FAQs

Packing

What size boxes should I use to pack?
Typically the size of the box isn't as important as the weight of the box. The most important thing to remember when packing a box is to pack it top to bottom. Try not to leave any voids. Pack books in smaller boxes and large fluffy or bulky items in larger boxes.

Remember: the heavier the item, the smaller the box.

Are packing and unpacking services available?
Yes, we do offer these services at an additional cost. If this is something you are interested in, it is best to let your moving consultant know in the beginning so that it can be factored into the estimate.

If I pack my own items are you responsible for the items inside?
We will not accept the liability on owner packed cartons so we suggest that if you have any owner packed cartons that are sensitive in nature/fragile that you move them yourself.

Do you sell boxes?
Yes we sell different types and sizes of boxes. We also have a wide range of helpful packing materials available as well.

How long does it take before I get my belongings?
This is determined on weight and distance.  Your moving consultant will discuss this with you further.

Additional factors such as a stairs, elevators, excessive long carry, the need to use a small shuttle vehicle, etc.

Can items be left in furniture drawers?
Clothing can be left in dresser drawers, but please ensure that there are no breakable items in the drawers.
Two-drawer file cabinets can remain full but all end tables, night stands, lateral file cabinets should be emptied as should desk drawers.

How much advance notice is required to schedule a move?
Generally, a minimum of two weeks notice is suggested to reserve the specific date of your choice. Often moves can be done on short notice as well. This all depends on the season; summer tends to be very busy.

When is the peak period for movers?
The summer months are the busiest, primarily because children are out of school. Also, the last week of any month is the usually the busiest time of the month. Try to avoid these peak periods if possible. Doing so may enable you to move at a lower cost.

How much weight can a container hold?
While our moving and storage containers hold up to 7,500 pounds, most of our customers typically get 4,000 to 5,000 pounds in the storage container due to item size and packing constraints. If you load your storage container with typical household belongings, you are not likely to exceed the 7,500 pound weight limit. However, if your storage needs include lots of books, magazines, tools, tool chests or other heavy items, remember to be careful to not exceed the maximum weight and that you may not be able to use the entire container's available space.

Do I need to be home when you drop off my storage container?
No, just let us know where you want the container placed and make sure there isn't anything blocking the parking space.

Where will you put the container when you deliver it?
